Alfonso Tejada is hosting another plein air painting session, this time in Spain. Spend 10 nights in a restored mill with great meals, wine and painting mentoring.

4th Annual Grand Prix

4th Annual Grand Prix Plein Air CHALLENGE

When: Saturday, August 6, 2011

Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Where:  West Vancouver, Ferry Building Gallery

In a traditional three-hour Plein Air painting competition, painters must originate, paint, complete and frame a piece of art that they create outdoors. Artists will be painting in areas surrounding Ferry Building Gallery and in the ArtSpeaks tent. Works will be judged and many fabulous prizes will be awarded! Artists must pre-register at the Ferry Building Gallery and cost is $35 + tax. A reception will follow for participants and jurors.

Summer Plein Air :: June 18 & 19

Plein Air Painting with Alfonso Tejada will inspire and challenge you to reach new levels of painting in the outdoors. Nature provides images, colours and subjects that defy the imagination and gives you an opportunity to see your subject in its whole state rather than the limitation of a camera and resulting photo.

Alfonso will show you how to create a composition that will work on your canvas or paper. Alfonso has been Plein Air painting for many years, and has a passion for this type of painting, a very popular instructor in the lower mainland, Alfonso has held successful Plein Air workshops in Mexico and Italy.

Joining Alfonso gives you an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, sharing your passion for painting with like minded people who want to explore new methods of creating art, and having lots of fun!

Summer Impressions

Beginners and artists with some experience are invited to participate in a full session dedicated to developing paintings from photos and sketches inspired by summer travels. Alfonso Tejada will provide expert instruction and introduce flavours of Italy and Mexico with images and stories from the recent cultural tourism expeditions that he leads.

Plein Air Strategies

Adopt new strategies when painting outdoors to deal with perspective, proportions and composition. WINNERS :: Grand Prix of Plein Air Challenge

Even with the rain, the 3rd annual Grand Prix of Plein Air Challenge hosted by Alfonso Tejada at the 2010 Harmony Festival was a success. Twenty three (23) artists came out to paint and to get to know each other.

Four awards were given out at the end of the three hour painting competition. First Place: Louise Nicholson; Second Place: Violet Taylor; Third Place: Kathryn Wright; Honourable Mention: John Hofman.

Congratulations to everyone that came out that day and endured the rain.
