Patricia Banks Fine Art – Contemporary Realism and Representational Paintings

Award winning, Canadian Artist, Patricia Banks is inspired by the magnificence and splendor of the natural environment. Through her realistic and representational paintings, she shares with others her special connection to the land and the sea. Patricia’s works evoke the variation of moods of the rugged West Coast, revealing an intuitive grasp of the subtleties of place and time.

“I am intrigued by the fleeting balance between strength and fragility in nature. By capturing light and movement in my paintings, I lead my viewers to pause and reflect, and to feel as if they are there, in the moment.”

Patricia’s paintings begin outdoors with direct experience and observation in nature. She can often be found on location completing a plein air painting or on return to her studio using this reference material to create a more detailed work.

Patricia earned international acclaim by winning second place in the International Artist Magazine 2007 Seascapes Competition for her piece “The Broken Islands.” Patricia is a graduate of the University of Victoria, has been accepted into the International Guild of Realism, and is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association in California.
