Wisteria Acres 2015

March 29, 2015/by pabc

For a fraction of the cost to paint with an instructor oversees, you can enjoy painting local landscapes on a beautiful retreat just outside of Fort Langley with this Vancouver artist workshop!

What could be better than painting all day in various beautiful settings, enjoying lunch with fellow artists, and ending each day as you choose, whether it be curled up with a book by the fireplace, relaxing with great company and wine, or going for a walk and enjoying the sunset?!

Date: July 2 – 5, 2015

Location: Fort Langley, BC

Costs: $115 to $645

Instructor: Lalita Hamill & Michael King

Description:

Due to the popularity of last year’s retreat, Lalita Hamill and Michael King have teamed up again and are expanding the program to include painting both plein air (outdoors) and figurative painting. If the weather is not conducive to plein air, we have access to a beautiful, spacious indoor room.

Participants can use any medium and will be provided with demos, personal instruction, and regular feedback in order to develop and hone their painting skills with respect to technique, composition, design, tonal values, col

our theory (including advanced), brushwork, and comparative measurements.

  • The retreat includes:
  • two instructors
  • six hours of instruction per day
  • individual attention throughout the day
  • three nights accommodation (full retreat only)
  • lunches provided (full retreat only)

Wisteria Acres is situated just outside Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada, sitting high on the bluffs overlooking the historic town and the mighty Fraser River. The long driveway, past a cascading wall of expansive wisteria leads to the main retreat house under a canopy of old growth cedars. Horses graze in lush pastures and beautiful gardens beckon you into stillness; a place where quiet awareness and inner wisdom are fostered.

There are four (4) rooms for those staying on the property. It is double occupancy, so if you are coming alone, you will be paired with another artist of the same gender.

The Retreat is tailored to help you grow as an artist with painting everyday, discussing art, critiques and getting to know other artists, all in a quiet and supportive atmosphere. Nightly bonfires are a great time to relax, have a drink and enjoy the evenings. Bring your old and tired paintings that can’t be saved and throw them on the outdoor bonfire; you won’t believe how liberating it is!
