Paint the Peninsula is a juried competition sponsored by the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center located in Port Angeles, Washington on the glorious Olympic Peninsula September 7 through 14, 2014.

If you want to paint salt water, rivers, lakes and waterfalls, mountains, industrial cityscapes, big trees and the rain forest, practically without moving, come see the varied and beautiful locations on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.

This five day painting contest will offer more amazing opportunities for the plein air painter than you have ever imagined.  Paint the Peninsula for the ultimate Pacific Northwest experience.  Artists will have an opportunity to hang their work daily for sale.  Please refer to our website at www.paintthepeninsula.org for more information, a bio of our judge Jim Lamb, information about Jim’s post event workshop, and photos of plein air painting sites.

Paint the Peninsula is a juried competition. Each artist needs to submit three images of their best recent plein air art work by April 14th at the latest.

Prospectus

Cash prizes of $3100 will be awarded, along with numerous Sponsor Merit Awards. Best of Show is a cash award of $1500 and includes the honor of having the artist’s winning artwork become the image on the 2014 Plein Air Special Limited Vintage Wine produced for the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center by Camaraderie Cellars to be released later in the year as well as being featured in the following year’s promotional materials for Paint the Peninsula.

Paint the Peninsula is a new annual plein air event that will be held in Port Angeles, WA on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula between September 4 and Sept 8, 2013.

The best pieces will be juried by nationally known artist Ned Mueller into the final gala sale where collectors and museum donors will have the opportunity to preview and purchase the work.  The gala will be a semi-formal evening with catered food and wine, capped by the awards presented to the top winners.

A special honor awaits best in show.

Prospectus

The event is being hosted by and for the benefit of the Port Angeles Fine Art Center (PAFAC). PAFAC is a non profit organization which hosts gallery shows and community art events throughout the year. The PAFAC gallery is located in Webster’s Woods, a five acre woodland area where over 100 sculptures and other works of art live in and peek out from the abundant foliage.
